TruWEAR AR500F: The Superior AR500 Steel Plate

CMC's AR500 Steel Plate, available as TruWEAR® AR500F, delivers outstanding performance in the most demanding abrasion-prone environments. As a quench and tempered abrasion-resistant AR500 steel plate, it combines superior hardness, strength, and toughness, making it ideally suited for applications that demand durability under impact and heavy wear.

TRUWEAR AR500F is produced to precise standards and excels in downstream fabrication, including bending, laser cutting, and plasma cutting. It's widely used across mining, asphalt, concrete, aggregate, and other heavy industries where equipment must perform reliably under punishing conditions.

Why Choose AR500 Steel Plate?

AR500 Steel is a through-hardened steel grade known for its long wear life and resistance to impact. With a Brinell hardness range of 470–535 HBW, it's tougher than most structural steel options, ensuring components stay in service longer and require less frequent replacement.

Whether you're reinforcing a dump bed, lining a hopper, or fabricating mining wear parts, AR500 steel delivers dependable protection from abrasive forces. CMC's AR500F Steel Plate enhances this performance through rigorous quality control and proven metallurgy.

Sustainable Strength From a Trusted U.S. Manufacturer

All TruWEAR products, including our AR500F Steel Plate, are manufactured in CMC's facilities using recycled scrap and environmentally-conscious processes that support a lower carbon footprint. We back every plate with technical documentation and customer service to help you get the right product for your needs.

Fabrication, Bending, Post-Delivery Heating and Welding

BendingFree bending should be performed utilizing maximum allowable bend radius to prevent cracking. TruWEAR AR500F plates 0.250” (6.35 mm) thick and less can be bent using a transverse radius of 4T and a longitudinal radius of 3.5T. Larger bend radius is recommended for thicker plates. Transverse radius is the bend line parallel to rolling direction.
Post-Delivery HeatingTruWEAR AR500F plate achieves its properties through quenching and tempering processes. Heating in fabrication (such as post-weld stress relieving) or in service must not exceed 400° F without risk of lowering the strength and hardness of the material.
WeldingTruWEAR AR500F plate can be welded by conventional processes such as SMAW, SAW and GMAW, provided that the weld procedures used are suitable for this grade and design of the welded structure, using low hydrogen conditions.
